Inglewood Elementary wrapped up their Autism Awareness Campaign by hosting their first Awareness Activity Day.
Here, students focused on abilities, not disabilities; highlighted what makes us each unique; showed the importance of working together as a team and used different types of communication and learning styles. To conclude the event, students and staff gathered on the playground and spelled out the word "Unique" for an aerial photo.
Throughout the month of April, the Autism Awareness committee members Margaret Deddy, Carolyn Collins, Beth DeLisi, Traci Thompson, Lauren Hibbs, Dianne Kozeniewski and Julie Ortlieb arranged themed spirit days, organized an interactive Q&A bulletin board and mentioned facts about Autism during the daily announcements.
Inglewood also hosted a coin challenge during the month of April to raise money for the Philadelphia Eagles Autism Foundation. At the Awareness Activity Day, the top class for the coin challenge was announced. Mrs. Hoffmans's 4th-grade class was named the winner for collecting more than $400.00. The class received an ice cream party on behalf of MerryMead Farms. Overall, Inglewood Elementary School collected $2,000.00 to be donated to the Philadelphia Eagles Autism Foundation.
